Who is Welcome?

YP is open to anyone in school Year 9 to Year 13 (or the year they become 18). Many of the current members of YP go to local schools – including Bexleyheath School, Townley School for Girls, Trinity School, BETHS, Bexley Grammar School and St Paul’s.

The current average attendance is between 7 and 12 people – the more the merrier! There are between 6 guys and 10 girls who attend regularly.

Why do we meet?

We work with young people because we want to see their faith become personal and committed to the Lord Jesus. We want to provide an environment where young people can develop a sense of belonging together and a group identity within the wider Trinity church family.

Who are the Leaders?

Trinity’s YP Leaders are Louise and Stuart Campbell who married at Trinity on 6 August 1988. Stuart works in the City and Louise is a local teacher, both of them like to run (for fun!). They are helped by Jason Vaughan and David and Ruth Bingham.

What do we do?

Sundays - We usually meet with the rest of Church at 10.30am but before 11 we go to our own group for a bible-based study. Our aim is to show our young people the things the bible says about becoming a Christian and to discover more about living a consistent Christian life. We lead a mixture of group activities and discussion (sometimes fun and normally involving chocolate) and a talky bit by one of the leaders. It is meant to be serious but we do laugh – normally at Stuart’s expense! We also pray for each other and the things that are bothering us – often it is school and exams or friends and family who are not well.
Fridays - Friday is the social night – a time to chill out at Stuart and Louise’s (8-10pm) with lots of food (Pringles are the current favourite) or do crazy things. In the past year we’ve done rock climbing, 5-a-side football, ice skating, had a Play Station evening, eaten out at the Noodle Bar and cooked a meal for the parents (which sounds odd but it was a brilliant evening!) ….

Specials - Each term we try to have a special day out. One Saturday in September we went to Margate for the day, which was excellent fun.  The highlights included chips in the café at Westgate Bay, getting soaked by the waves and playing on the beach; not forgetting the bowling… This year the leaders are hoping to organise a weekend away so watch this space for more special days out!

How do we keep our Children Safe?

We take the safety of the young people in our care very seriously and our practices are set out in the Trinity Child Protection Policy. See the current policy here.
